We are COVID-19 Secure

A Safe and Compliant Dental Practice

We have taken all the necessary steps, and more, to create a COVID-19 secure environment at Southview Dental Care. As a result of the pandemic, we’ve done an in-depth review of our operations, and we have enhanced our practises to keep our patients safe to the best of our ability.

Our In-Practice Efforts

We have instated new policies for our dental practitioners, which include new systems and processes, such as:

  • Installation of a Negative Pressure Ventilation System
COVID-19 restrictions in dentistry require all practices to leave the treatment room empty for an hour following any dental procedures that may produce an aerosol — this is the vast majority of dental treatments. We have modified all our treatment rooms with a negative pressure ventilation system, which creates increased air changes. Public Health England recommends a level of 10 air changes an hour, however we have chosen to go beyond to 15 air changes an hour for our patients’ and team’s safety.
  • Decontamination of Our Environment
Decontamination has always been a top priority as part of our general infection control procedures, even prior to COVID-19. We now allow further time between patients to ensure this process is even more intensive.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Our team wears the highest level of enhanced PPE when carrying out any aerosol generating procedures (AGPs).

We strongly believe the efforts we have made for health and safety create the most COVID-19 secure environment possible.

What We Ask of Our Patients

While we have made every effort to maintain a healthy environment inside our dental practice, we need a little help from our patients to ensure everyone stays safe. Here are some changes to our patient protocols.

  • All patients are required to fill out an online COVID-19 screening and updated medical history questionnaire prior to their appointment.
  • We request all patients wear face covering if you wish to take a seat in our waiting room. If you are unable to wear, or do not wish to wear, a mask, we ask that you wait outside the practice or in your car and we will call you through to the surgery.
  • Our waiting room will only be available to very limited numbers, with priority given to the social groups with the greatest need for dental care. With this in mind, please arrive as close to your appointment time as possible.
  • Currently, we are unable to provide onsite washroom and drinking water facilities. Please ensure you tend to these needs before arriving at the practice.
